Since its formation in 2005, the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation has sought public support from the communities and organizations located within the Northern Plains National Heritage Area. We have received several letters of support and made all of them available to the public.
Testimony before the Senate Subcommittee on National Parks 11/8/2007
On Nov. 8, 2007, Tracy Potter, then-president of the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation, testified before the Subcommittee on National Parks of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources regarding the viability of the Northern Plains National Heritage Area. Omnibus Land Management Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-11) 3/30/2009
On March 30, 2009, President Obama signed the Omnibus Land Management Act of 2009, which designated the Northern Plains National Heritage Area and named the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation as its coordinating entity. Follow the link to read Public Law 111-11.
Amendment to Omnibus Land Management Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-11)
In October 2010, Sen. Byron Dorgan introduced an amendment to PL 111-11 that guaranteed the protection of private property from any regulations as a result of the Northern Plains National Heritage Area designation.
